That day was bright and
sunny. The sky was blue with some clouds forming a group of cute shapes. Birds
were chirping on the trees and butterflies were flying from one blooming flower
to flower. Everyone took advantage of the cheerful spring Sunday to laze and
relax at the park. Laughter could be heard often as everyone enjoy themselves.
Everyone could be seen talking and laughing. Some couples were snuggling
together cozily.
Everyone except two.
She stood there staring at
him, unable to speak. Her vision slowly became blur as her tears began to form
themselves around her eyes. Slowly, a drop rolled down her pinkish cheek and to
her palm. She closed her eyes. She tried to free her hand from his grip. Nearby,
people are starting to stare. A group of children stops racing and stood looking
as well. On the left, a group of giggling high school girls is whispering
excitedly. Most stop their conversation mid-way and stands up to get a better
view.
She ignored them and holding
her hands in front of her watery eyes, she stared at her fingers. Her usual
long and slender fingers, was now adorned with a sparkling red diamond ring.
She can’t believe her eyes, nor her ears.
Nodame put down her hands
and squatted down to look into his eyes. He had been in that position for a
whole 10 minutes and is starting to get impatient. They stared at each other in
silence. She put up her hands to hold his face in her palm.
“It’s warm.”
“Yes.”
Nodame move nearer to him
and sniffed. She sniffed his shirt.
“It’s Shinichi’s smell. It
really is.”
Chiaki turn beetroot as
Nodame began to act weirdly again. He holds her head to stop her sniffing and
held her chin.
“It is me Nodame.”
“So, it is true then? You
are real? I am not dreaming at all? I did not imagine all this? Senpai?”
Chiaki smiled and nodded his
head once slowly. He closed his eyes and pull Nodame nearer. Their mouth met
and he kissed her softly and tenderly. Nodame wrapped her arms around Chiaki
tightly. Too tightly until Chiaki stopped kissing to breathe.
“Nodame! That hurts..”
He pulled her up into a
standing position. His legs had begun to ached. Nodame had resumed her bear hug
and had remained silent. “Nodame, are you alright? This is not the usual
reaction I expected.”
Nodame pull apart and pout.
“It’s not what Shinichi will normally do as well.”
Chiaki stared at her. “What
do you mean?”
Nodame held her fingers and
begun to count.
“Senpai have never buy
Nodame such an expansive gift like diamond ring. Senpai also never tell anyone
that he loves Nodame. Senpai had always shown such scary faces at Nodame when I
say we are couple. Senpai have never performed just for Nodame, and in front of
everyone. And senpai also never kneel down and hold Nodame hand and say…”
She stopped as realization
hits her. “Senpai!” She looked up at him.
Chiaki laughed loudly and
pull Nodame closer to hug her tight. He whispered so softly to her so that only
she can hear.
“Nodame, you are important
to me. If it makes you so happy, I’ll do anything. Just marry me.”
It’s enough for Chiaki when
Nodame hug him hard back and jump apart to announce to everyone she knows and
don’t know.
“Baka Nodame..”
*Author Rant: Happy Valentine Day! I have written this for quite some time. Though I think it ought to be posted here during Valentine! Hope you guys like it. ^_^*
